Building a scalable legal framework for digital healthcare

Background

When Ingo Health approached us, they were at an early stage but operating in a highly regulated environment. As a UK-based health-tech platform supporting women’s health, they were subject to both CQC and GPhC oversight. Their model combined the sale of medicinal products with access to healthcare professionals, which introduced a layered set of legal and regulatory considerations.

They needed more than isolated legal documents. They required a legal framework that would support the business as it scaled, while maintaining compliance across healthcare regulation, data protection, and digital service delivery.

The LS Law Approach

We began by treating legal as a core operational function rather than a compliance afterthought. Our role was to establish a foundation that aligned with Ingo Health’s commercial model and regulatory exposure.

We prioritised three areas:

• First, we developed a suite of core legal documents, including privacy policies, data protection frameworks, and terms and conditions, ensuring they reflected both regulatory requirements and the realities of a digital health platform.

• Second, we provided targeted regulatory guidance. This included advising on the legal parameters for the online sale of medicinal products and the provision of healthcare services, ensuring that Ingo Health’s model was structured in a way that met the expectations of relevant regulators.

• Third, we focused on data governance. Given the sensitivity of patient data, we advised on lawful collection, use, and storage, embedding safeguards that were proportionate to the risks involved. This was supported by carefully structured warranties and disclaimers to protect both the business and its users.

Throughout, we worked closely with the founding team, ensuring that legal decisions were understood, practical, and aligned with their growth plans.

The Outcome

The result was a coherent legal framework that enabled Ingo Health to launch and operate with confidence.

Their platform met regulatory requirements from the outset, reducing the risk of disruption as the business grew. Their approach to data protection was structured and defensible, supporting both compliance and user trust. Clear terms and policies also provided transparency for users and operational clarity for the business.

Importantly, the legal infrastructure we put in place was designed to scale, allowing Ingo Health to adapt its offering without needing to revisit fundamental legal assumptions at each stage.
